Every choice you make in life is going to be hard. Let me give you some examples..
Changing your diet is hard. Waking up every day feeling unhappy about your body and regretting that you have not changed your diet – is also hard.
Working for yourself is hard. Working for someone else who determines your salary, benefits, and opportunities no matter how strong your work ethic – is also hard.
Going against what people believe in or what society thinks is ‘cool’ is hard. Waking up wishing you were doing what you love but instead you’re miserable because you were too afraid to take a chance because of what people thought – is also hard.
They’re both hard. Therefore, you need to choose your hard.. See where I’m going with this?
My point is that everything that is easy in your life was once hard. Riding a bike was once hard. Getting acclimated at your job was once hard. Even learning to walk was once hard. Everything you do in your day to day life, was once hard.
But your learned it, and now it’s easy..
Most people want to avoid “hard.” They want to avoid the things that are difficult, the things that are challenging them, and the things that are pushing them. But anything of real value takes some sort of hard work or sacrifice. Don’t let that scare you. Understand that anything new you start will be hard, it’s just understanding that taking no action might also be hard.
If most things in life are hard, why not choose a hard that makes you a better person? Choose a hard that provides value to not only yourself but the others around you. Each decision you will make in life will be hard in some way. It’s up to you to choose your hard.
“We either make ourselves miserable or we make ourselves strong. The amount of work is the same.” — Carlos Castenada
